EN Systematic Literature Review: Factors for Successful Relationships from Dating Apps to Marriage

Abstract

The development of digital technology, particularly online dating apps, has changed the way individuals build romantic relationships leading to marriage. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the success of relationships that begin on dating apps and lead to marriage, using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with the PRISMA framework. Out of 200 identified articles, through screening, eligibility, and final selection stages, 8 articles were selected for analysis. The study found that psychological, social, and cultural factors play a significant role in relationship success. Effective communication, value compatibility, family support, and the role of app matching algorithms are key elements in building healthy and sustainable relationships. Additionally, cultural norms such as the importance of family approval in Indonesia also influence the dynamics of relationships that begin online. This study contributes to the literature on family psychology and offers practical insights for individuals using dating apps to find a life partner..
