Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) occurs after individuals experience a traumatic event, especially in freshmen who experience psychological pressure due to academic demands and lack of rest time which has the potential to trigger trauma. This study aims to explore the role of self-compassion in preventing the negative impact of PTG and supporting the mental health of freshmen. The research method used a systematic literature review of 50 national and international scientific articles published between 2000 and 2023 with 21 articles relevant to the study. The results of this study show that PTG can have negative impacts if not managed properly and self-compassion plays an important role in helping students accept their condition and recover from psychological distress. This finding reinforces the urgency of implementing self-compassion strategies in the campus environment. It is hoped that the results of this study can be a reference for universities and campus counselors to develop psychological assistance programs for new students to encourage healthy and adaptive post-traumatic growth.
